Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian-aid non-governmental organisation, has organised an eight-day festival to throw light on various health and humanitarian challenges faced by people and their staff who work in areas where people are affected by disasters and conflict.
The festival will be held at Rangoli Metro Art Centre between November 22 and November 29.
A photo exhibition — While We Looked Away — will have pictures from those living in remote and conflict-hit areas where access to medical aid and treatment are a challenge.
Three films titled Affliction , Access to Danger Zone and Fire in the Blood will be screened followed by a discussion. These films throw light on topics such as the Ebola outbreak, delivering aid in conflict areas and on generic drugs.
The organisation has been in India since 1999 and provides free health care to people in remote areas. It has worked in tackling diseases such as Kala Azar, HIV/AIDS and providing mental health services in parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The organisation has 700 medical and non-medical staff in India.
